Islamabad’s New Public Transport Buses to be Launch on July 5

Islamabad: As per the latest updates, the Capital Development Authority (CDA) is all set to launch the most anticipated Islamabad New Public Transport Buses on July 5, 2024. Once the authority officially launches it, the electric buses will be operational soon. As per the sources, it is expected that either Mr. Shahbaz Sharif, the Prime Minister or the Interior Minister, will inaugurate the electric buses launching ceremony.

It is pertinent to mention that these electric buses are owned by the CDA’s contractor, the National Radio and Telecommunication Corporation (NRTC), a subsidiary of the Ministry of Defence.

Additionally, CDA plans to expand the fleet in Islamabad. Therefore, around 70 more electric buses are expected to reach Islamabad from Karachi. Moreover, after manufacturing, around 60 more buses will arrive in Islamabad from China.

The following are the details about the 30 Electric Buses:

The CDA’s electric buses will be operating on two routes:

  1. NUST to PIMS
  2. PIMS to Bari Imam

The feeder route 7 will run from the National University of Science and Technology (NUST) to the Pakistan Institute of Medical Sciences (PIMS). Moreover, there will be 13 stops in this route, and it will pass through different routes like:

  • G-11 Markaz
  • G-10 Markaz
  • G-9 Markaz
  • G-8 Markaz

The feeder route 4 will run from the Pakistan Institute of Medical Sciences (PIMS) to the Bari Imam or Quaid-e-Azam University. It will pass through different routes like:

  • G-7 Markaz
  • G-6 Markaz
  • Melody Market
  • Aabpara Market
  • Ataturk Road
  • Serena Hotel
  • Foreign Office
  • Radio Pakistan
  • Diplomatic Enclave.

Below are the further details about the Electric Buses:

  • The operating timing for this metro bus service will be from 6 AM to 10 PM.
  • The fare or price of the metro bus service will be around 50 rupees per person.
  • The disabled person or students will get a discount.

At first, 30 buses will start operating from the Convention Centre, where the CDA has installed a charging station with six charging points. Furthermore, CDA has also set up a bus charging facility at the H-9 metro depot for the other 70 buses which will be arriving from Karachi soon.

Additionally, an official mentioned that the upcoming 70 buses from Karachi will start operating in Islamabad within a few days after starting with the early 30 buses. Moreover, CDA is also establishing bus depots at Zero Point, I-9, and Taramri.
