As per the latest updates, IT and Telecom Minister Shaza Fatima Khawaja recently announced that the satellite-based internet-providing firm Elon Musk’s ‘Starlink’ had been registered with the Securities and Exchange Commission of Pakistan (SECP).

Pakistan has been struggling with slow internet speeds and frequent disruptions since several weeks. Moreover, as per Ookla’s Speedtest Global Index, Pakistan ranks 100th out of 111 countries in mobile internet speeds. Whereas, Pakistan ranks 141st out of 158 countries in broadband speeds,.
Moreover, Pakistan truly needs an effective internet so that every job can take place quickly. It is pertinent to mention that many people have requested Elon Musk get satellite-based internet services in Pakistan. Someone stated, “Dear @elonmusk, please bring Starlink to Pakistan. Our people need better internet, especially in remote areas.
Another person stated, “@elonmusk— could leap into the future, where every citizen has the chance to connect and grow. Please, let Starlink be our bridge to tomorrow.”
As a result of these tweets, Elon Musk responded, ‘We are waiting for approval from the government.” The Elon Musk Startlink service registration process is with the National Space Agency (NSA), which is the Space and Upper Atmosphere Research Commission.
In addition, the senior IT ministry official stated that after the registration process, the satellite data operator would engage with the Pakistan Telecommunication Authority (PTA) in order to get a license and start services.
However, as per the updates, only the Maldives have provided Starlink the license in the South and South East Asian area till now. Meanwhile, all other nations, including India and Bangladesh, analyzed the technical parts of satellite services from Low Earth Orbit.
