Govt is Likely to Block Bank Accounts of Non-Filers Under Amended Finance Bill 2024

Islamabad: As per the latest updates, the government is likely to block bank accounts of non-filers under the Amended Finance Bill 2024. They have also decided to fix the amount of sales tax on mobile devices, replacing around 18% of sales tax under the same amended Finance Bill 2024. So, as the non-filer failed to respond to the notices properly, the government might propose this proposal to block the accounts of the non-filers until they appear on the Active Taxpayers List (ATL).

As per the sources, non-filers will still be able to deposit money in their accounts, but unfortunately, they will not be able to withdraw their money until and unless they become filers and also appear on the Active Taxpayers List.

So, if the proposal is accepted and becomes part of the amended Finance Bill 2024, then the Federal Board of Revenue (FBR) will share an income tax general order (ITGO), which will include the names of non-filers whose bank accounts will be blocked.
